We have been invited next month (August 17th meeting) to hold it at Hickory Ridge. We can do some demos for folks and will be given a tour so it should be lots of fun.
Don’t forget the Nuno Felting Workshop that will be held August 11th in the afternoon at the Western Watauga Community Center. You can register for this at Saturday’s meeting!

On June 1st we had a booth at the Anything Fiber Sale at Warren Wilson College and we participated in Fiber Day in West Jefferson.
On June 3rd our show was ready to be displayed at the Jones house and on June 6th we had a reception there.
On June 7th and 8th we had a booth at the Blue Ridge Fiber Fest in Sparta.
On Saturday the 15th, we will hold our June meeting at the Watauga Library in downtown Boone starting at 9:30. This is earlier than our usual time but we had to adjust in order to be able to use the library. We will also meet at our regular time of 10:30 at the library for July and August. For our June program, Betty Womack is going to share about her paper making workshop at Penland. Afterwards, we can walk down to the Jones house so everyone can view our show there. Our July program will be our annual pot luck and fiber swap.
The Southern Strands Exhibit will be at Brahm through October 27th. Be sure to check it out. Our own, Susan Sharpe, has a quilt in the show that will take your breathe away. You can view pictures of it here on our website: https://blueridgefiberguild.org/susan-sharpes-quilt-at-the-southern-strands-show/[/su_column] [su_column size=”1/2″ center=”no” class=””]

The Overmountain Weaver’s Guild is having a weaving show at the Reese gallery on the ETSU campus. The show will run from the 2nd week in June to the end of July. We will be having our June and July meetings at the Reese. In June Cassie Dixon a linen and coverlet weaver and teacher at JC Campbell school will be presenting. We also have a person who is knowledgeable about Rocker looms, who will be at our July meeting at the Reese as well. If your guild is interested, I hope you might come down for a guild meeting or some other time to see the show.
The Overmountain Weaver’s Guild meet the third Wednesday of the month, 10:00?

Don’t forget that we are meeting this Saturday at 10:30 at the Western Watauga Community Center for our Fiber Guild Meeting. This is a week earlier than usual due to Easter.
This will be a Show and Tell meeting so bring all your lovely projects and we will make sure and photograph them for the website this time.
Also we have a LOT of business to discuss with so many activities coming up for us in June:

We will have a table for the guild and we will discuss at the meeting how you can sell your items plus contribute to the guild

We are changing the date of our April Guild Meeting to April 13th because April 20th is the day before Easter and we couldn’t find a place to meet on that day. So, we will meet at the Western Watauga Community Center on April 13th from 10:30 – 12:30 for another fabulous show and tell. I hope this works for most of you. I for one was not going to be able to attend on the 20th because I would be out of town. Our meeting in May will be at the library downtown.
We have lots of things coming up for our guild. June is a very full month with the Blue Ridge Fiber Fest on the 7th and 8th and the show at the Jones house starting the same week. The Anything Fiber Sale is on June 1st and registration for that opens Monday. We are planning on having a table for our guild. We will discuss this at the meeting if we get a spot.
We have some wonderful news to share about our Weaving Class that meets on Friday mornings. We were awarded a Grassroots Grant on the recommendation of the Watauga County Arts Council Board of Directors. We are so excited to be able to purchase much needed equipment and supplies for this program from the proceeds!
Hope to see you at the meeting on the 13th. Bring your show and tell items and we will remember to photograph them for the website this time.
